Manasquan’s Mabrey commits to play hoops at Notre Dame

May 4, 2011
On Saturday, following a trip to the University of Notre Dame last Thursday, Manasquan junior guard Michaela Mabrey made a non-binding verbal commitment to play basketball for the Fighting Irish following her high school senior season.
The news of Mabrey’s decision was confirmed by Warrior head basketball coach Felix Romero.
Mabrey, one of the most sought-after high school basketball talents in New Jersey, led the Shore Conference in scoring for the second consecutive year in 2010-2011, averaging 23.4 points per game.
The junior also posted an average of nine rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
Mabrey will join a Division I Fighting Irish program that, in 2010-2011, advanced all the way to the NCAA Women’s National Championship Game before falling to Texas A&M, 76-70.
Notre Dame is currently coached by Muffet McGraw.
