Lady Purple Roses onto state sectional final

March 7, 2011

Real quick one everybody..

With a win over Sacred Heart tonight, the St. Rose girls basketball team will face off against Trenton Catholic in the NJSIAA Non-Public South B tournament final… Being the game is on Wednesday, it will happen too late to be reported in this week’s Mar 10, 2011 edition of The Coast Star.

However, for live up-to-the-minute updates you can follow me on twitter at:

Also, directly after the game [and my drive home] I will give a brief summary of the final right here on the blog…

For a complete game story of the Roses state sectional final matchup with Trenton Catholic, please pick up the Mar 17,2011 edition of The Coast Star.

The injury to Nicole Donahue is very unfortunate, but I feel like the smaller one center and four guard starting lineup that St. Rose used was a success. They looked comfortable running the floor and setting up open looks for their shooters. Thoughts?

True, the Roses looked good on Monday night against Sacred Heart, but if you ask anyone who has been around the team all year, they would take Donahue back in a split second… She is just as athletic as a lot of guards and she is also tall. Trenton Catholic is very athletic as well, so the Roses would love to have Donahue’s height back in the paint to stop TC’s dribble drive. Plus you can’t teach senior leadership and experience…

Thanks for your continued interest in the blog Alexander..
