Panthers outlast Warriors in unforgettable NJSIAA quarterfinal game- brief summary

March 2, 2011

You would have had to been there, to fully understand the battle that took place at Point Borough High School tonight, as the Manasquan Warrior and Point Borough Panther girl’s basketball teams faced off [for the third time this season] in the NJSIAA South II quarterfinal.

It would take double-overtime  and several lead changes to settle the score, but in the end the Panthers #3 came out victorious with a 65-61 win over the Warriors#6, ending Manasquan’s season in 2010-2011.

Point Borough sophomore Kelly Hughes lead the Panthers with 31-points, including 8 in the second overtime to preserve the final lead over the Warriors.

Manasquan junior Michaela Mabrey did everything she could, keeping the Warriors in the game by hitting big shot after big shot on her way to 28 points on the night.

This is just the briefest of summaries on the game and there is a lot to still be said…  For the full-game story, pick up the Mar. 10, 2011 edition of The Coast Star.

Anyone who was there have any comments on the game? Feel free to leave…
