Shore Conference Swim Meet inaccuracies to be corrected in Feb 17 issue

February 10, 2011

Due to an error on my part, there were inaccuracies in the February 10, 2011 edition of The Coast Star sports section, regarding the results of the local swim teams at the Shore Conference Swim Meet.

Our athlete of the week, Manasquan sophomore Hannah Briant, earned a first place finish in the 50 freestyle event – swimming to a time of [24.91].  Briant also swam to a second place finish in the 100 freestyle [54.61].   These are the correct standings, opposed to my original mistake that she earned a third place finish in the 50 and a fourth place finish in the 100.

The Manasquan relay team of Briant, Kat Kazaba, Erin Perna and Caroline Petrone also swam to a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay [1:41.88] and not fourth place as I originally stated.

I will be doing a correction piece on the Shore Conference Swim Meet  in the upcoming February 17, 2011 edition of The Coast Star, to correct all additional errors I made in the original story.

I would like to apologize to all the athletes and their families, as I pride myself on trying to bring you the most interesting and accurate information each week.

-Sam

    Sam,

It was nice speaking with you at the meet. Finally got the chance to read the article and your apology.

Ya……that was a pretty good ooopps :). No biggie. Your doing the right thing and the record will be made straight.

Thanks again for the effort your making. You are doing good work and people are starting to pay attention and notice it.

    Thanks.

    Hey Sam,

No worries about the mistakes. If fact, we think you have done a great job covering the swim team this year. Swimming is not easy to follow for someone who did not swim in high school or college. Its just a learning curve.

Again, nice job this year with swimming and the other sports you cover.

    Mr. Briant (Hannah’s Dad)
